During the pandemic, all my independent classes on on Zoom and are pay as you feel- any donations will be gratefully received via Paypal and will support me in my work as a self-employed yoga teacher. I'll also put my bank details on the email you receive- thanks so much for the generous offers I have had- much appreciated. If this crisis has left you short of cash, absolutely no need to even think about it. You can come to as many sessions as you wish and I hope this practice will keep us strong in these challenging times. All sessions will be accessible if you listen to your body and I will offer options.
What sort of yoga is it?
I create and deliver yoga classes which are open to all, aiming to provide basic principles and help you to listen to your body and create a sense of peace and relaxation for body and mind. If you think you can't do yoga, you are my kind of student! I promise that I can teach you. It is for every body and every type of body. You don't have to be young or thin to do it- I am neither of those things! All you need is patience, a willingness to take part and an ability to let go of the idea that you have to look a certain way. Yoga is called 'practice' because we do just that and we get better at it in time. Yoga practice is always mindful and in tune with our breath. I will always lead you. After time, it will get more familiar and your body will also tell you what you need to do. True yoga is for the body, mind and soul so I include yogic themes, use of mudra (hand gestures) and there are always opportunities to take it deeper. Everything we do can be modified to suit you and I am a great believer in using props. Hatha yoga is the 'mother' of all yoga types you will read about and so I teach Hatha. I will teach you how to do a pose before creating flowing sequences (vinyasa) and have a strong emphasis on working safely. Even if you join an experienced group, you can still take part, as I will always include pointers on how to avoid injury and what options we can take. I specialise in mindfulness and beginners' courses and many of the students who started this way have stayed with me to continue their yoga journeys. I run gentle chair- based classes in the community, Yoga Nidra and restorative yoga sessions. I am also available to teach yoga in your workplace or home; I can design classes to suit the needs of individuals and small groups so if this is something you are drawn to, please contact me for more information.
